Sometimes, a corporate driven channel will interrupt regular programming and telecast a piece of revolutionary television. Mostly, it’ll be because (i) no one whetted out the material properly or (ii) the issue at hand is no longer relevant in mainstream media.
So HBO decided to telecast U2’s Rattle & Hum concert from 1987. This is from the glory days of the band. When they were electrifying on stage and when Bono – a beautiful, angry young god – had a crowd of thousands suddenly giving a damn about Ireland. The power of an artist and his ability to shake up the apathetic masses (even if just for the duration of this concert) is on full & dazzling display. I am amazed.
